Suryan Chandrasegaran

With a particular interest in Commercial and Estate Litigation, Estate Planning, Business Law and Tax and Superannuation Advice, Suryan has developed a broad range of experience and expertise over more than twenty five years in the legal profession.
He has acted for clients in a range of Australian courts, including a successful Commercial Litigation matter in the High Court of Australia (Walker v Sell [2017] HCATrans 110).
After completing his secondary schooling in Perth, Suryan obtained Bachelor of Law and Bachelor of Commerce degrees from Monash University, Melbourne in the early 1990s. Beginning his career in Advisings in the Australian Taxation Office, he obtained his Masters of Taxation degree from the University of New South Wales in 2000. He then gained valuable experience in tax and superannuation law while working for a large national law firm in Perth. In the late 1990’s, he moved to a regional law practice in Victoria, where he gained much experience in general law as well as in running a regional law practice as a Partner. Suryan established Albury Legal after moving to the Albury region in 2013.
Suryan has been admitted as a barrister and solicitor of the Supreme Courts of Victorian and Western Australia and the High Court of Australia. He is also a Fellow of the National Tax and Accountants Association and a registered tax agent.
He is the current Treasurer of the Albury & District Law Society. He is a past Treasurer of the Murray Conservatorium of Music and the Women’s Life Centre Inc.
He enjoys spending time with his wife and children, and playing badminton.
